Reading to my Family.

I am reading my stories to my family.  I have done good reading this year.  Next I would like to read my publishing book to them.

Kelly Sports.

We are learning to throw and catch on Tuesday mornings at Kelly Sports, 

with Coach Cameron.

Who Am I?

We had to tell about ourselves.  I had to think about me and what I look like.  Then write down the words and they are the clues.  We put them into a book so that other people can read them.  They have to think about what person it might be.  It is mystery to solve!!  It was tricky for me to write this story because it was hard to do the clues.

Telling the Time.

At Maths time I was learning to tell the time on a clock or a watch or a phone or on the ipad.   On this clock here, the big hand is on the 12, and the little hand is on the 7.  This means it is 7 o'clock.  If I change the little hand and it points to 8, then it would be 8 o'clock.  If I change the big hand to the 6, it would be half past 8.  At first it was tricky to learn the time, but now it is easy.

Reading Eggs.

I do Reading eggs at school and at home on my ipad.  I was making compound words and I have to join the words together and make one word.  It is easy for me because I know the words.  Next I would like to do more lessons because I like Reading eggs.

Year 1 Skipping Day.

Here I am jumping over the long rope on our skipping day.

My Grandma is skipping too.  She is very good!!

Writing New Words.

We are learning to read and write new words by thinking about the end sounds of the words.  I had a little walk in the room and then I put these words on the laptop.  First I was crying, but then I figured it out.  It was tricky for me because I was worried I did not know the words.  Next time I would like to do an e and an r at the end.

Origami Art.

On Friday the 3rd of August, some Japanese homestay students visited us from Botany College.  We chatted to them first, took them for a tour around our school, and then they helped us to fold some Origami.  My buddy helped me to make a heart and a flower and a bird called a crane.

Dancing!

On Monday and Tuesday night, I went to Elim College to dance for Elm Park School in the HPPA Dance Festival.  My favourite part was being a princess on the stage.  I was not scared because I knew the dance very well.

My Shape Art.

We are learning about shapes like circles, triangles, ovals, rectangles and squares.  I made a rocket ship and I used a rectangle and some squares.  It was tricky because the cutting was hard to make a square or a rectangle.  Next time I would make a star.

Blowing Bubbles.

We are outside blowing bubbles.  I can see big bubbles and I can see little bubbles.

Stardome Writing.

On Monday the 25th of June, Room 1 visited the Stardome.   We looked at planets and stars and space suits.  Here I am as an astronaut flying to the moooooooon!

When we came back to school we had to write a story about our trip.  Mrs Kerr let us choose some shapes in Tagul and then we had to import our words.  We could change the colours.  We printed them out and put them up on our space wall.  We think they look super AMAZING.  Here is my one.

Mathletics at School.

I already know them.  I can get a tick because it is right.  At my house I play Mathletics on the computer.

My Honeybee.

Reading on the Ipad.

I am learning to use the Ipad to read a QR code.  I can choose a book cover.   I scan the QR code and then the story comes up on Youtube.  It can be tricky to scan some of the books.  I enjoy it because I can listen to the story and I can watch it at the same time.  I chose this book called Giraffes Can't Dance.

I know all my alphabet letters now but I am still learning all my words.  I learn them at home and I learn them at school.  I am getting better and better and soon I can read books about Harry Potter or Minions or Butterflies or even something different.

First we draw a picture from our memory.  Then we draw with the teacher, doing it very slowly.  We have to draw lines like zigzags, curves, circles and lines.  When our work is amazing, the teacher makes it bigger on the photocopier.  Then we can colour it in but we still have to BE VERY CAREFUL!  Here is our beautiful, super work from Term 1!

Maths Games in Room 1.

I have to look at the number on the astronaut and then match it with the rocket that has the same number of stars.  It's tricky to count all of the stars because sometimes it has 8 stars but when you check again there are 7 stars.  They have to be the same.

Fun and Fitness.

We have been working on our fitness this term and we have been trying some new activities.  Here I am skipping and

                                     using the ladder and hurdles.
